Rum + Boogie = Blues

A few months ago, Kyle and Keith paid a visit to Memphis, in particular Beale Street (the "Bourbon Street of Memphis"). They were checking out the James Govan Band and got talking to keyboardist Don Chandler who invited Kyle to join the band for a few tunes. Keep in mind the number of greats who have played this venue; Robert Cray, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Greg Alman, Aerosmith, just to name a few. Kyle had a great time, and judging by the reaction of the other guys, so did the James Govan band! Links to some pics and video are here

Artist o' the week

Okay, so it's not a Juno Award, but it's still pretty damn cool! The Blues Underground Network out of British Colombia just named us as their Canadian Blues Artist of the Week. Thanks to John for the shout-out, we really appreciate it.

I posted a few clips from East Side's last night. Here's Keith asking for Darren's help to locate his Little Red Rooster, while Darren pays homage to Gord. Nice slide work from Kyle on both tunes.

Thanks again to friends and family for showing up to support us. Too bad Soundman Steve wasn't there a little earlier, we could have used him last night!! Ah well, such is the life of a Rock and Roll band....

Weekend events

For anyone who has been interested in booking us lately; we'll be at the Admiral Inn in Lindsay on Saturday October 14th, at the Trade Show. Aside from doing a little busking, we'll have information on rates and availabilty, so feel free to drop in and meet the band and ask some questions. We'll be setting up around 2:30 and will likely be set up for at least an hour. Then, it's East Side Mario's at 9pm. Hope to see you there,

Good evening Haliboo!

For anyone fortunate enough to be living in the God's Country known as Minden/Haliburton.....Greg Roe from 100.9 Canoe FM will be playing our CD on Friday night on his show. We're hoping to go up there soon to do some live stuff with Greg, I'll let you know more as things get firmed up.

We had a great rehearsal last night, worked out a few new tunes......Eagles fans won't be disappointed at East Side's Saturday night (hint hint)

Cheers,

Back in Black

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. We don't have any shows this weekend as the band members are enjoying time with their families over Thanksgiving. However, we do have some new shows in the making, and we'll be doing some radio pretty soon too. Keep an eye on upcoming shows for more details.

We're also working on quite a few new tunes, so for those of you who have seen us around lately, come out to East Side Mario's on October 14th!

The website is still a work in progress. Right now, it's optimized for 1024x768 resolution, and I know some Firefox browser users are having problems with the video. When I get the time to tweak my geekiness and figure this stuff out, I'll fix it ;) Thanks for all the interest though, we're getting tons of hits....in fact, we've been linked on the Toronto Blues Society's webpage, and we're indexed on Google!! Number One for Canadian web page searches for "Bloodline Band". Oh.....I'm such a geek......

On a musical note; I was driving home from work tonight listening to Bob Dylan doing "You Belong To Me". Egad, that's some sweet stuff. Don't you think?

A Grand old time....

Wow, lots of fun at the Grand last night. I really want to thank all of our friends who made the trip out to see us....S&P from Peterborough, Kimm and crew from Lindsay.....can't thank you guys enough.

I have tons of video and audio from the gig to post, and more than a few pictures. For now, check out that no-good desperado (not to mention the pride of Cambray) Darren "Man in Black" Bailey having some fun with the Cocaine Blues.

The clip is posted here.

Thanks to Kyle playing "After Midnight" with a violin bow I've fulfilled one of my childhood dreams. How many times did I air-guitar to Jimmy Page bow-stringing a Les Paul in my bedroom as a teenager? Okay, it wasn't actually me playing last night, but forgive me if I live vicariously through Kyle occasionally......

I think we got a bit of audio of that part, I'll post it if it turned out well. Ron was playing some mean harp last night too, I'll have that up under "live shows" soon, as well as Keith belting out G-L-O-R-I-A.

Thanks again to the Grand, and to everyone else who turned out to support us.
